Extra-Inning Win by Rocks over Rockets
|
Nassau third baseman Bob Martin had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Martin slugged 3 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored three times, even as Plymouth beat the Rockets, 14-8. Martin was named the player of the game despite the loss. Plymouth reliever Bartolo García picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-2. Juan Franco was collared with the loss. The Rocks own a robust 59-22 mark.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 11th inning. With one out, Chad Huggins hit a 1-0 fastball from Juan Franco for a run-scoring single. It put Plymouth in front, 9-8.
In postgame comments, Huggins said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
