Browns Sink Bandits, 6-4
|
Despite a great performance by San Francisco right fielder Michael Elliott, the St. Louis Browns defeated the Bandits by the score of 6-4 at Gateway Stadium. Elliott was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. St. Louis reliever Santiago Valentín picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. William Watson was saddled with the loss. St. Louis is now 44-36, San Francisco 31-50.
St. Louis took the lead with one out in the bottom of the seventh when Adrian Prouse stroked a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4 in favor of St. Louis. For the day, Prouse was 2-3 with 2 singles and was hit 2 times.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said St. Louis manager Jeff Porter.
