Kings Suffer 5-3 Setback
|
The Houston Marshals defeated the Kansas City Kings, 5-3, at Mythology Coliseum. Houston third baseman Matt Smith was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. Daniel Grant got the win, improving to 11-9. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Edward Cadle got the save, his 30th in 36 chances.
Houston center fielder Kent MacDulothe contributed to the cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, MacDulothe was 2-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Houston manager Tom Lucott.
With the win, Houston goes to 88-72, while the Kings fall to 89-72.
