Pikes Topple Boccabellas as Hernández Shines
|
The Seattle Pikes thumped the Pocatello Boccabellas, 9-1, at Connie Mack Stadium. António Hernández was a big reason his team got the win. Hernández was 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Albert Lebel, the winner, improved to 18-4. He held Pocatello to 1 earned run on 3 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. The losing skid has reached 7 games for Pocatello.
In the top of the second with one out, the Pikes were let down by their defense. With Seattle leading 1-0, Hernández hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It could have been more costly, but the Pikes were able to get the win.
"The division is still up for grabs, but I like our chances," Hernández told the Seattle Herald.
