Browns Stymie Madison, Take 8-1 Win
|
2027 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Madison Bombers.
The St. Louis Browns and starting pitcher Nelson Ortega stifled the Madison offense en route to a comfortable 8-1 win at Gateway Stadium. The winning pitcher was Ortega, now 17-7. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5.
With St. Louis trailing 1-0 and the bases loaded, the Browns struck gold when shortstop Tommy Evans turned a first pitch changeup from Bombers hurler Clint John into his 4th home run of the season. The hit scored 4 and put St. Louis up, 4-1.
"I like our moxie," said Browns manager Jeff Porter.
St. Louis now has a 3-game win streak.
