Rebels Prevail, 3-2, Over New York
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Roy Hobbs Memorial Ballpark. But Bill Wilson conjured up just enough offense to carry the Rebels past the New York Knights, 3-2. Wilson went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. Tony Rocha earned the save for Boston, his 27th of the year. The Rebels sit in last place in the National League Eastern Division with a record of 51-105.
The Rebels got a big at-bat from designated hitter Miguel Rivería. For the game, Rivería was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the seventh, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 149th hit of the season gave Boston a 3-2 lead.
New York manager Ed Livingston said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
