Marshals Take Down Stars, 5-3
|
The Houston Marshals topped the Springfield Stars, 5-3, in Continental League action at Kekambas Park. The player of the game was Houston pitcher and Geneva, New York native Ron Scott. Scott picked up the win for Houston, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 1-2. With the win, the Marshals improved to 89-73.
Greg Welch delivered a big hit for the Marshals. The veteran catcher belted a 2-run home run in the top of the first. The longball put Houston on top, 3-0. Overall, Welch went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Scott said.
