Beavers Lose Late, 6-5
|
The New York Knights beat the Baffin Island Beavers, 6-5 at Roy Hobbs Memorial Ballpark, in part due to catcher Yasuhiko Sumita, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The second-place Beavers have lost 4 straight games.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With New York trailing 5-3, Sumita hit a splitter from Edgardo Guzmán for a 3-run home run. Just like that, the Knights had a walk-off win.
"Put a star next to this win," Sumita said.
