Late Rally by Stars Secures Win
|
The inspired effort of New York left fielder Troy Donaldson was not enough to prevent a 4-3 loss to the Springfield Stars. Donaldson went 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times. José Valdéz closed it out for his 14th save. Springfield has an impressive 50-24 record.
Springfield first baseman Elliott Newell changed the game in the top of the eighth when he belted a 2-run home run off Hong-ryul Yun. His 16th home run of the season gave Springfield a 4-3 lead.
"Winning is not something we take for granted," Newell said.
