Big Day for Medina as Gang Green Down Looters, 6-1

The Irvine Gang Green trumped the New Orleans Looters, 6-1, at The Ballpark at Irvine. Irvine designated hitter Leonardo Medina was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Jung Chwa, who went 8.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 5-5. Mike Fisher got credit for the save for Irvine. It was his 13th of the year.
Medina had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Marty Bradford, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Gang Green a 5-1 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Medina.
"Enjoyed this one," Medina told the Irvine Daily News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Irvine is first in the National League Western Division with a record of 41-31.
