Big Day with Bat: Miner 5-for-6 Wednesday, April 29th, 2026 Steve Miner exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Maniacs Ballpark. The Madawaska Valley HS catcher had a field day in the 21-1 triumph over the Oliver Ames HS Tigers, finishing 5-for-6. "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Well, Miner must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat. Steve Miner singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off John Bascombe in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. So far this season Miner has gotten 22 hits in 93 at-bats for a .237 batting average with 1 home run. His stats include 17 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He has played in 23 games. |
