Streak Finally Over, Estrada Held Hitless
Monday, May 19th, 2025
Late in the game Bulldogs third baseman Juan Estrada stepped into the batter box with his 24-game hitting streak on the line. Up to then he was without a hit. Sadly it just wasn't to be -- Estrada did not get a hit -- and his streak was finally over. The Commodores had stopped him, not allowing him a hit in 4 at-bats. However, Georgia won the game 2-1.
"Winning the game took some of the disappointment out of it," Estrada told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 24 straight games. It's something I will always remember."
This season Estrada is hitting .342 with 65 hits, 17 home runs, 42 RBIs, scored 43 runs and played in 46 games.
