Friday, May 16th, 2025
There are moments in a player's career that they will not soon forget. Phil Cantrell of the Utes had one of those moments when he went 5 for 5 at the plate today, but he couldn't pull out the victory. Despite his hitting heroics, Utah fell in defeat 11-3 to the Southern California Trojans at Dedeaux Field. The 21-year-old right fielder told reporters in the postgame interview, "This was quite a day for me individually, but a little disheartening at the same time. It would have been very special, if we had won the game." Phil Cantrell hit a two-run home run off Mark De Jesús in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Presently Cantrell is batting .400 with 6 home runs and 15 RBIs. He has played in 11 games and scored 9 times.
