Ernest Melton Out for 7-8 Months Saturday, April 18th, 2026 Watching Ernest Melton getting helped off the field today at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field, fans of the Oregon State Beavers feared the worst. The news wasn't quite as bad as initially feared, but the reliever will miss 7-8 months with a torn rotator cuff. "We feel we've dodged a bullet. When you see a guy break down like that, you worry right away," a team spokesman said. Melton suffered the injury throwing a pitch in the game against the Yellow Jackets. Melton's record this year is 2-and-0 with no saves and a 5.40 ERA. He has given up 16 hits in 10 innings with 4 strikeouts. |
