It's Over: Cardinals Stop Nelson Thursday, April 9th, 2026 It was the best of both worlds for the Louisville Cardinals today at Jim Patterson Stadium as they defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes 7-3 and also ended Joel Nelson's 21-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old Ohio State left fielder failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Joel, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Cardinals skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Nelson frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game." This season Nelson is batting .385 with 1 home run. |
