APL Relief Ace Long Named Best Hurler Tuesday, September 1st, 2026 Any time a rookie makes a splash on the scene, it's got to be great for his career potential. Just ask Cliff Long, who put together a stellar month out of the pen. The Dunedin Blue Jays reliever, 23, kept the opposition off balance all month as he held them to a .163 average and walked away with the Appalachian League Pitcher of the Month award for August. Long posted a 8-0 mark and a 1.20 ERA in 20 relief appearances. In 30 innings, he had 1 save, 37 strikeouts, and 10 walks. This season Long has made 106 relief appearances, pitched 157.1 innings and struck out 197 with a record of 17 wins and 6 losses. He has compiled a 4.35 ERA and saved 5 games. |
