Baker Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 35 Thursday, August 27th, 2026 The Columbia 08s got more than a 3-1 victory over Manhatten today at Manhattan Metro Field. They put an end to Denver Baker's 35-game hitting spree by holding him without a hit in 4 at-bats. But it was no big deal to the Meatheads right fielder. Baker seemed to feel more for his team than himself. "I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit. I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today." So far this year, Baker is batting .268 with 16 home runs and 85 RBIs. |
