Saturday, July 25th, 2026
History in the making. That's what the fans at Newark Recreational Ballpark got to see today in the Newark 9-5 triumph over the White Sox. Dave Cook of the Butler came to the plate 5 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against the Bulldogs. "It was a great day for me, but a disappointing one for our fans," he said to the reporters covering the game. "I wish I could have won it for them. They like stats, but they love winning." In the postgame press conference the Newark skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink. I am just glad we escaped with a win. Cook was lethal." Dave Cook singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
In his season totals, Cook has 22 home runs, .305 BA, .462 OBP, 65 RBIs and 91 runs scored. He has played in 95 games.
