When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Rob Bass of the Newark Bulldogs. He tore up the Buffalo LightSabres to the tune of 5 hits in 7 at-bats in the Newark 11-9 win today at Newark Recreational Ballpark. "Bass was a tough out today," the Buffalo manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure." Rob Bass singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, struck out in the 10th and hit a two-run home run off Pat Monroe in the 13th. Thus far this year Bass has hit .321 with 8 home runs and 44 RBIs. |
