Thompson Smacks 5 Hits for Rattlesnake Sunday, April 12th, 2026 What a day for Jared Thompson of the Rio Grande Rattlesnake! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen every day! He ripped Wilmington pitching apart at Le Parc and sparked the Rattlesnake to a 14-2 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing his special day 5 for 6. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Thompson told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that." Jared Thompson hit an RBI double in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
