Week's Best Player: La Crosse's Slagboom Monday, July 20th, 2026 21-year-old Dick Slagboom made a few La Crosse headlines during this past week as the rookie catcher proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Northwest League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 12 hits in 24 at-bats to put up a .500 average. Slagboom collected 3 home runs, 7 RBIs and scored 10 runs. To date, Slagboom has collected 39 hits for a .231 average. He has posted 7 home runs, scored 38 runs and driven in 33 runs. |
