5-Hit Barrage by Downing Saturday, June 20th, 2026 It was high-5 day at Roger Maris Field, at least for Robert Downing of the Menlo Maniacs. He got a lot of high-5's from his teammates for his outstanding hitting against the Bismark Border Guards. Downing smashed 5 hits in 5 at-bats on his record-setting day, leading his club to a 8-1 win. His manager said, "Robert was hitting everything. It really was a special game for him." In the other dugout the opposing manager told BNN beat writers, "He ambushed my boys today. Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but luckily, tomorrow is another day. Hopefully it will be our day to shine." Robert Downing singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, tripled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. This year Downing has hit at a .272 clip with 30 RBIs, 6 home runs and 44 runs scored. |
