On a Roll: Cox Hits for Cycle
Tuesday, April 28th, 2026
You might say Nick Cox wore out his welcome with the San Diego Smashers. The catcher gave them fits in today's 8-7 Bismark victory by hitting for the cycle. "To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game, getting every type of hit possible. Cox ended the day with 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, he said, "After the first three hits, I thought to myself, This could be the game I hit for the cycle. And I got lucky and did it."
Nick Cox singled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Jesús Martínez in the 8th and walked in the 11th.
On the year Cox has hit .276 with 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and scored 14 runs.
