Hot Bat Cooled, Alston Hitless Against Lugnuts
Saturday, August 22nd, 2026
Redwood City center fielder Nicholas Alston came into today's game against the Lansing Lugnuts on a hot streak. When it was over, the Lugnuts did their job very well. They beat the Redwood City Redwoods 6-3 and cooled him off at the same time. Lansing stopped Alston without a hit and his 20-game hitting streak came to an end.

The 30-year-old Alston only had a few words to say after the game, "I had a chance to do it and I came up short."

His manager commented, "What Nicholas did was exciting and quite an achievement. It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm really proud of him. And I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

For the year Alston is batting .329 with 31 home runs.
