Wallace Finally Fails, Streak Ends at 26
Monday, August 31st, 2026
For 26 straight games, Willie Wallace tried to ignore his hitting streak. "But you guys in the media wouldn't let me." The 27-year-old Los Cabos designated hitter can forget about it now -- it's over! -- courtesy of the San Francisco Bandits. They held him hitless in 4 at-bats and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 26. The streak ended on one good note, however, Los Cabos won the game, beating the Bandits 3-2.
But Wallace acknowledged that it meant something to him. "It was special," he said, "but I think other people make a bigger deal out of it than I do, or the players do. But that's what you're supposed to do; go out and hit the ball and try and score runs. It was a cool deal. It's over now. Let's try to start it all over again."
Wallace is hitting .279 this year with 23 home runs and 46 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .320, 21 walks and scored 55 times.
