McGuire Put in Cooler, Hitless Against John Jay HS Monday, May 5th, 2025 Dave McGuire saw his 25-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Maris School 12-6 victory over John Jay HS at Ghosts Ballpark. The 16-year-old first baseman was held hitless in 5 at-bats by Patriots, but his Maris School teammates produced enough offense to garner the win. Talking to reporters after the game, McGuire was upbeat. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit. How could you be unhappy after you have hit in 25 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. And I am really happy that we won another ballgame today. Life is good." This year McGuire is batting .341 with 45 hits, 10 home runs, 40 RBIs, 18 walks, .417 OBP and has scored 20 runs. |
