Vega Pounds 3 HR Tuesday, May 6th, 2025 Clemson second baseman Armando Vega almost did it all today. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 4 times and drove in 5 runs and had 3 hits in 3 at-bats, but the Tigers were beaten 18-14 by the Ohio State Buckeyes. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game. After his standout performance, Vega will now see his name go into the league records. The winning manager said, "When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win. We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the NCAA. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good College Baseball hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a pretty good hack at it." Armando Vega hit a solo-shot off Bartolo Villarreal in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Bartolo Villarreal in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off George Webb in the 7th and walked in the 8th. Thus far this season Vega is hitting .300 with 4 home runs, 28 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has 33 hits in 110 at-bats and has played in 34 games. |
