Demon Deacons Dump Héctor Martínes as Manager Wednesday, June 12th, 2024 Wake Forest has fired manager Héctor Martínes. "We were not doing the things you've got to do every day," the Demon Deacons general manager told reporters. "We saw that things were not going to change. We had huge expectations coming into the season and we did not live up to them." The current coaching staff will be assigned to run the ballclub in the interim until a new manager can be hired. Martínes was told of his dismissal yesterday morning and was not available for comment. The Wake Forest spokesman called it a "sensitive and emotional" meeting with Martínes -- too sensitive to bring up whether Martínes would be offered another job in the Demon Deacons system. |
