Ibarra Rips Iowa for 5 Hits
Thursday, May 23rd, 2024
Players get multihit games all the time. But a 5-hit game comes around only once in a blue moon. It happened at Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth when Luis Ibarra of Villanova scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Iowa Hawkeyes. He walloped 5 hits in 5 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Wildcats get by the Hawkeyes 12-9. In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the right fielder of the Wildcats said, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens... good things happen... like 5-for-5. I could get used to a lot of days like this one." Luis Ibarra singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Rodrigo Morales in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Arturo León in the 6th and hit a two-run double in the 7th.
To date, Ibarra has collected 55 hits for a .286 average. He has posted 13 home runs, scored 40 runs and driven in 44 runs.
