Cook on Fire: 5-for-6 for Michigan State Monday, May 13th, 2024 It was a sensational day at the plate for Clinton Cook, but a letdown as well as the Spartans dropped the game 13-11 to the Bulls. Nonetheless the Michigan State first baseman was pure misery for the South Florida pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. "It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win. That's the important thing," Cook said. The manager of the Bulls told BNN reporters after the game, "Cook put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw him some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Clinton Cook singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and struck out in the 9th. In his stats this season, Cook has posted a batting average of .294 with 20 hits in 68 at-bats, no home runs and 13 RBIs. He has also scored 8 runs, walked 14 times and compiled a .405 OBP. |
