20-Game Streak Ends, Torres Hitless
Saturday, May 4th, 2024
For once, it was the Terrapins picking up Armando Torres.

Their offensive catalyst, as the Maryland manager calls him, saw his 20-game hitting streak snapped as Torres was held hitless by the Oregon State Beavers at Shipley Field. The 20-year-old right fielder went 0-for-4. It should have made for a lousy day, but his teammates picked up the slack and whipped the Beavers 7-3.

At the press conference after the game, Torres told reporters, "Everybody did the job but me. No problem, we won the game."

Asked how he felt about the streak ending, he grinned and replied, "It was a good run. I'll try to start another one tomorrow."

Torres on the season is hitting .393 with 2 home runs. His stats include 25 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
