Noah Gillespie Rockets 3 Home Runs
Friday, April 19th, 2024
Going... Going... Gone! Noah Gillespie did it three times in the California-North Carolina game at Bryson Field at Boshamer Stadium. Three home runs in one game -- but his team lost -- the Tar Heels outscored the Golden Bears 15-14.
"Gosh, it's a shame we didn't win this game. I get my name in the record book, but we lose the game."
For the day the California center fielder went 3-for-3 against North Carolina with 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting.
"I was in a groove," he said, "and every pitch they tossed up there looked like a basketball." Commenting after the game to the press, the semi-elated Gillespie explained, "I tell you what, I was surprised because I didn't think the last ball had enough to get out. I thought it was just going to be a long out."
Noah Gillespie hit a solo-shot off Jason Wilkins in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jason Wilkins in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, walked in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Chris McDonald in the 7th, walked in the 8th and walked in the 10th.
Currently Gillespie has 8 home runs and a .281 batting average.
