Rodgers Smacks 5 Hits for Tacos Sunday, September 14th, 2025 It wasn't poetic justice. Walt Rodgers of the Tacos had a terrific 5-hit game today, really socking it to the Eau Claire Esquires, but his team didn't win the game. In the clubhouse after the 8-6 loss, he moaned to the press, "Hey, I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here. When you have a great game you should win the game, too." And he definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 5 at-bats. The manager for the Tacos sympathized with his shortstop and told BNN reporters after the game, "Walt played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough to win... baseball is a team sport... it takes more than just one player to win a game." Walt Rodgers hit an RBI triple in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. In 104 games this season Rodgers has batted at a .234 pace with 90 hits and 6 home runs. |
