Davidson Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Stars Saturday, July 12th, 2025 There is an old saying, "Bad news comes in threes." Superstitious or not, it came true today in the case of the Gresham Gold Souls. Matt Davidson hit three homers and they still lost the game 23-14 to Las Vegas at Mohave County Field. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through like the Stars did. Matt hit the heck out of the ball. I'm just sorry we couldn't win it for him," his manager said in the postgame press conference. In addition to the homers, Davidson collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and scored 4 runs. He said after the game, "Easy swings get you home runs. I told myself not to press on the last one. It had to be a nice and easy swing." Matt Davidson flied out in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Thomas Young in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Fred Ellis in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Wayne Barksdale in the 8th. This season Davidson is batting .247 with 11 home runs. He has scored 29 runs and driven in 35. |
