Gonzáles Belts 5 Hits
Monday, June 30th, 2025
It wasn't poetic justice. Pedro Gonzáles of the Prawns had a terrific 5-hit game today, really socking it to the Santa Monica Bruins, but his team didn't win the game. In the clubhouse after the 26-15 loss, he moaned to the press, "Hey, I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here. When you have a great game you should win the game, too." And he definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. The manager for the Prawns sympathized with his left fielder and told BNN reporters after the game, "Pedro played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough to win... baseball is a team sport... it takes more than just one player to win a game." Pedro Gonzáles flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
Gonzáles is hitting .339 this year with 4 home runs, 23 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 61 hits in 180 at-bats, 15 walks and a .390 on-base percentage. Gonzáles has played in 52 games.
