National League Picks Skipper of the Year Sunday, November 23rd, 2025 Chris Black celebrated a successful season with the Baffin Island Beavers by hosting team officials and select media at a Baffin Island area first-class eatery. But, when he first came to town, the 2025 National League Manager of the Year would've been lucky to be invited out for beers with the ground-crew. "Very few people believed in our ballclub, when I got here. It just goes to show you that a bunch of talented ballplayers playing together can make any old manager a genius," a modest Black joked, not fully recognizing his own stature in the baseball community. However, baseball journalists duly noted his managerial skill as he skippered the Beavers to a 116-45 record this year and a first place finish in the National League Eastern Division. |
