Manager Flunks in Springfield -- Weldon Canned Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 Today the Stars made an announcement: The era of Douggie Weldon is over in Springfield. After a disappointing season, the club officials sat down with Weldon to discuss their decision to make a change. "It wasn't a surprise to me," Weldon said speaking with reporters. "As a team we did not perform up to people's expectations, nor to my expectations. When that happens, someone has to take the blame. This year, that person was me." In an official statement, the Stars expressed gratitude for Weldon's efforts, but confirmed the need to look for a different voice in the clubhouse. "We thank Douggie for providing class, professionalism, experience and leadership during his tenure with the club, but believe we need to make this important change to our team's management." |
