Mendelson Cracks 5 Hits
Wednesday, August 27th, 2025
After the Vista 6-5 loss to Kalamazoo and his 5-hit day right fielder John Mendelson told reporters, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school, or college ball. Two hits in a game is very good, three or four hits even better, five or more are out of sight ... and if it is in pro ball, it is really something special. It will get you in the record books, but you won't necessarily win the ballgame." The 29-year-old player got into the record book today with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese. The skipper of the Panthers spoke glowingly of Mendelson, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. John did that to perfection today. I just wish some more of our players swung the bat as good as him. We might have won the game." John Mendelson singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, doubled in the 8th and grounded out in the 10th.
This year Mendelson has batted at a .277 pace with 95 hits, 13 home runs, 38 RBIs and scored 47 times.
