On a Roll: Gibson Hits for Cycle Tuesday, April 30th, 2024 "It's too bad I can't do that every day," Ken Gibson said with a smile to reporters after today's game. "It would do wonders for my batting average." Gibson had every right to be in a good mood after hitting for the cycle today against Temiskaming District Secondary School at Lincolnville HS Fields. The Buchanan HS won the ballgame 18-17, he hit for the cycle, had a 4-for-5 game and boosted his batting average up a few points. The 17-year-old Buchanan HS left fielder chalked up 3 runs batted in and 4 runs scored for the game, too. Who says you can't have it all? He told the press that a triple is the tough hit to get in a cycle. "As soon as it left the bat, guys jumped off the bench and were rooting hard for me to have enough gas to get there," Gibson said. "It was hard to enjoy it. I was breathing too hard ... you got to really be in shape to run out a triple." Ken Gibson hit a solo-shot off Bartolo Delvalle in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI triple in the 4th, flied out in the 5th and was hit by a pitch in the 7th. For the year Gibson is batting .347 with 4 home runs, 22 RBIs and 34 runs scored. |
