Gardner Belts 5 Hits Sunday, April 21st, 2024 Who needs batting practice? Marv Gardner of Madawaska Valley HS apparently doesn't as he peppered Maris School with a 5-hit outburst in today's game. He got the hits, but lost the game. The Maris School pulled out a 22-21 win. He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. This was really something... a 5 for 6 day... will my name be in the record books now?" One of his teammates hollered out, "No, only if your team wins the game!" Marv Gardner walked in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th. This season Gardner is batting .317 with no home runs. His totals include 5 RBIs and 9 runs scored. |
