5-for-6 Day for Ward
Saturday, April 20th, 2024
It was a good day all around. Maris School whipped Bishop Amat HS 20-8 and Jason Ward displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day at Renegades Ballpark. "Some days, lady luck is on your side," he modestly told BNN reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. Jason is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have." The 17-year-old center fielder for the Maris School collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats to get his name in the record book. Jason Ward singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Leonardo Canó in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, walked in the 7th, doubled in the 8th and struck out in the 8th.
In 18 games this year Ward has posted a .295 average and put up these numbers: 2 home runs, 13 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
