Concepción Batters Otsego HS Big Time Friday, April 19th, 2024 It was an almost perfect day. John Jay HS left fielder Esteban Concepción displayed a hot bat today, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day. But something was missing -- the Patriots failed to win -- they lost to the Otsego HS Bulldogs 18-15. "Some days, Lady Luck is on your side, some days she's not," he modestly told BNN reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. Esteban is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have, and vice versa." The 16-year-old left fielder for the Patriots collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats to get his name in the record book. Esteban Concepción singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Craig Miller in the 5th, walked in the 6th and singled in the 8th. To date, Concepción has collected 35 hits for a .455 average. He has posted 5 home runs, scored 29 runs and driven in 23 runs. |
