Trojans Johnson Smacks 5 Hits Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 It was a hits blitz for Melvin Johnson at Ballpark of Sterling HS. The Jeffersonville-Youngsville Central HS Trojans shortstop tore into Spanish Fork HS for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace the Trojans to a 24-0 victory and to put up a career day. The manager for the Spanish Fork HS bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Johnson, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game." Melvin Johnson struck out in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Clint Keating in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and doubled in the 8th. Thus far this year Johnson is hitting .333 with 2 home runs, 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored. |
