Payne out of a Job; Minnesota Looking for Skipper Wednesday, June 12th, 2024 When news broke over the firing of Troy Payne, members of the Minnesota Golden Gophers did not seem disappointed. One player who asked not to be named said, "It's been heading down this road for a while now. He lost the players, lost the coaches, and lost the fans." When pressed for an opinion on which direction the team should head in looking for a new manager, the same player suggested, "Someone players will listen to."
