Rogers Batters Penn State Big Time
Wednesday, May 29th, 2024
It seemed that Texas center fielder Jon Rogers could do no wrong as the Longhorns kayoed the Nittany Lions 14-0 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Penn State pitchers couldn't get him out as Rogers seemed to know which pitches they were throwing. "I think the Longhorns were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Penn State fan. "I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Rogers in the postgame press interview. Jon Rogers singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.
This year Rogers is hitting at a .268 pace with 3 home runs and 25 RBIs. He has played in 42 games and scored 32 times.
