Virginia Starting Pitcher Out
Saturday, May 11th, 2024
"I'm frustrated right now," said Virginia starting pitcher Bill Ward. "I can't help this team by sitting on the bench or in the training room." Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, that's where he will be spending 7-8 months. Ward suffered shoulder inflammation in today's game against Connecticut while throwing a pitch. "Believe me," he said, "I won't be out a day longer than I have to be."
Ward has made 7 starts so far this year and put up a 1-2 won-lost record with a 6.75 ERA. In 30.2 innings he has allowed 36 hits, walked 25 and struck out 23.
