Martin Socks it to Demon Deacons, Cracks 5 Hits Friday, May 10th, 2024 History in the making. That's what the fans at Gene Hooks Stadium got to see today, when Purdue outplayed the Demon Deacons 19-2. John Martin of the Boilermakers came to the plate 6 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Wake Forest. In the postgame press conference the Wake Forest skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink." John Martin singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Oliver Ríos in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th. So far this season Martin has 5 home runs and a .312 batting average. |
