Longhorns Chill Parker's Hot Streak
Monday, May 6th, 2024
Vanderbilt right fielder Herman Parker came into today's game against the Texas Longhorns on a hot streak. When it was over, the Longhorns did their job very well. They beat the Vanderbilt Commodores 8-7 and cooled him off at the same time. Texas stopped Parker without a hit and his 20-game hitting streak came to an end.
The 21-year-old Parker only had a few words to say after the game, "I had a chance to do it and I came up short."
His manager commented, "What Herman did was exciting and quite an achievement. It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 20 games in a row. I'm really proud of him. And I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
This year Parker has hit 7 home runs and posted a .306 batting average.
