3-HR Game for Bergeron Saturday, April 20th, 2024 Today was a special one for Jeff Bergeron of the Iowa State Cyclones as he slammed three home runs against the Mississippi Rebels. But it didn't end on a happy note. The Rebels outhit him and got the win by a score of 7-6. Nevertheless the Iowa State center fielder had quite a game at Swayze Field as he collected 3 hits in 3 at-bats, drove in 5 and scored 3 runs. "Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game ... I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em." Jeff Bergeron hit a solo-shot off Ron Brooks in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Ron Brooks in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off John MacHendry in the 7th and walked in the 9th. This season Bergeron has banged out 21 hits in 58 at-bats for a .362 average with 4 home runs. He is getting on base at a .486 pace and his totals also include 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored. |
