Kentucky's Gentry Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits Friday, April 19th, 2024 It seemed that Kentucky center fielder Jerry Gentry could do no wrong as the Wildcats kayoed the Horned Frogs 9-1 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 5 at-bats. Texas Christian pitchers couldn't get him out as Gentry seemed to know which pitches they were throwing. "I think the Wildcats were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Texas Christian fan. "I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Gentry in the postgame press interview. Jerry Gentry hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th. Gentry has a .319 average and a .397 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 22 hits, 1 home run and driven in 10 runs. |
